Course Description: This
three-week session takes place in San José, Costa Rica,
the capital of this friendly country.
During week one, students establish a base in Spanish,
concentrating upon grammar and conversation, depending on the students
abilities, and teachers also introduce Medical Spanish.
During the next two weeks, students observe at a
local clinic or hospital in their speciality or area of choice.
These sessions provide the opportunity to observe the Costa Rican
health care system and develop language skills while working alongside
Costa Rican counterparts.
After classes, there are optional cultural activities,
such as Latin dance and cooking classes, a visit to a local coffee
plantation, and "noches tipicas."
Also included are two weekend excursions (except
meals): one to Arenal, an active volcano; and one to Manuel Antonio,
a famous ecological preserve.

USD; includes course
materials, a family homestay with two meals per day, and airport
pick-up (with a family homestay); does not include airfare,
other food, other transportation, or housing not included in
the homestay.
