Mayan Medical Aid
Scholarships

Scholarships are meant to help those participants, who ever have had financial need, and, on that basis, have received financial aid. Merit scholarships and family support of any kind do not count, but other kinds of scholarships and loans do.

With residents, even though they receive a salary, the same rule applies. The assumption is that residents, who have received financial aid in the past, still have loans pending and, thereby, still have financial need.

We allow participants to receive scholarship aid from Mayan Medical Aid based on a clear understanding. All of the funds we receive – of which there never are enough – go toward providing much needed health care to our very poor patients.

We are a pass-through organization, meaning that no money sticks to Mayan Medical Aid. For this reason, we have no excess of funds. As such, we trust that participants who never have received financial aid will choose the non-scholarship option, and those who have received qualifying financial aid will choose the scholarship option.
